THE CURRICULUM

Along with the core subjects our curriculum includes a wide range of additional learning such as; accredited qualifications, vocational skills and independent living preparation. An education at ALC is designed to be a life enhancing experience. 

 

We excel at reintegrating students back into education. Our empirical evidence shows that for most young people, phased entry into their new school (ALC) is by far the best long term strategy. 

 

On admission at ALC we complete a thorough needs assessment which is a collaborative process between ALC and the student. We address their individual educational, personal and social needs.  Although not part of Ofsted educational requirements, ALC recognises that social and emotional development is an important success criteria. We use the Thrive Approach model within our school to help us achieve this.

STAR POINTS

Points mean prizes! Star Points is a very successful system that we incorporate into each day as an incentive for good behaviour and academic achievement. It earns the student points for areas such as time-keeping or courteousness. Should the appropriately set target be reached, a reward can be earned.
